Fall 2020 – one of the most beautiful locations & stunning skies I saw in Virginia all fall. We were FREEZING but this family was amazing and hung in there, even for those last ones of just the mom & dad which I had to get before we headed back down the mountain.
I spent a beautiful week last fall photographing families and couples in the Shenandoah. Every evening I would drive up the mountain where the sunlight started to get soft and hazy, spend an hour or so taking photos at an overlook, and then head back to the AirBnb where I hung out on the balcony with a glass of local wine from Veritas. The muted background of the rocks and water at this location really allows for the focus to be on this beautiful mom and her three boys. You have to be QUICK when taking photos of little boys because they want to be on the move and don’t have a lot of patience for sitting in one place too long. Alicia is also a family photographer and was so fun to work with – she knew exactly what I was trying to capture and I didn’t give much direction at all!
