Alexandria Newborn Photographer

Hi, I’m Sarah — an Alexandria Newborn Photographer based right in the heart of Old Town, and I’d love to welcome you to my studio.

My cozy studio sits on the first floor of a historic 1785 building on Saint Asaph Street in Old Town Alexandria — filled with gorgeous natural light streaming through two large front windows. It’s a calm, unhurried space where new families come to slow down and soak in those very first days together. Clients always remark on how peaceful it feels the moment they walk in — there’s truly something special about it.

I specialize in newborn, maternity, and milestone portraits, and I’m here to make the entire experience effortless for you. I know you’re juggling a lot right now, so I plan every detail ahead of time — from wardrobe styling and hair and makeup to the flow of your session itself — so that when the day arrives, all you have to do is show up and be present with your baby.

Browse my client wardrobe of 50+ dresses to find something that feels like you, or I’ll point you toward pieces to purchase if you’d prefer something new. Either way, I’ll make sure you feel beautiful and comfortable.

After your session, I hope you’ll take some time to enjoy Old Town — one of Travel + Leisure’s top cities in the country — grab a coffee along the waterfront, or wander the cobblestone streets. It’s one of my favorite things about being here.

I also offer in-home newborn sessions throughout Northern Virginia and the DC area if you’d prefer to be photographed in your own space. Whatever feels right for your family, we’ll make it work.

I can’t wait to meet you and your new little one.

“If you’re looking for a personal yet professional photographer in the DMV area look no further. Sarah was incredible to work with. I had my newborn session with Sarah and they came out better than I believed they could. After having a rough birth that led to a C section I didn’t feel like I looked my best but the photos Sarah took made me feel great. I will forever cherish the pictures and will be happy to go back to Sarah for the next newborn session. Thank you for your incredible work. Don’t look any further, book Sarah while you can!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When should I book a newborn session?

The sweetest newborn portraits happen in the first 6–14 days after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and enjoy being swaddled. I recommend reaching out  3-4 months before your due date so we can get a date on the calendar before baby arrives. That way everything is in place and there’s nothing to figure out in those hazy early days.

Q. What should I wear for my newborn session?

I have a client wardrobe of 50+ dresses for you to choose from, so you don’t need to worry about a thing. If you’d prefer to wear something of your own, I’m happy to give styling guidance so your look photographs beautifully in the soft, natural light of the studio.

Q. Where is your studio located?

My studio is in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, on Saint Asaph Street — on the first floor of a historic 1785 building. It’s easy to access with parking nearby, and right in the heart of one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the northern Virginia.

Q. Do you serve areas outside of Alexandria?

Yes — I serve families throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington DC and Maryland area, including Arlington, McLean, Falls Church, Fairfax, and beyond.

Q. What about siblings and partners, are they included?

Absolutely — I love including the whole family. Big siblings especially make for some of the most precious moments of the entire session.

Q. How long does a newborn session take?

Most newborn sessions run about 1.5 – 2 hours. Babies set the pace — we take breaks for feeding, soothing, and snuggles as needed. There’s no rushing here.
