Rachel and Matt are the sweetest couple. Their warm and easygoing personalities really shine through – the first time I met them for their engagement photos at Sky Meadows, I knew they would be so fun to work with and couldn’t wait for their wedding day!
As usual, the week before their wedding, I kept a close eye on the weather and saw that it would be overcast all day. I had hoped to get a pretty glow but the colors on cloudy days can be beautiful too, so I was prepared to work with no sun. The forecast turned out to be completely wrong and that afternoon the sky was a beautiful blue, the sun was shining bright, and it was GLORIOUS!! Oh and the humidity was very low – if you live in the DC area you know how unusual that is for late June.
We started with a few photos before the ceremony in one of the classic alleys in Old Town – the cobblestone, brick, leading lines and lighting are incredible and make it the perfect spot for portraits. On the way to the waterfront ceremony we passed hundreds of people enjoying the outdoor restaurants and incredible weather. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snap a photo of them on King Street and we actually stopped traffic for a few seconds so I could grab a couple!
We found the perfect spot for the after-ceremony portraits and we got that golden glow I was hoping for. Congratulations Rachel and Matt, I am so happy for you and to be a part of your special day! Enjoy my favorites!
