If you would like to see a magnificent sunrise, head down to Roanoke, VA and visit the Roanoke Mountain Overlook. I promise, you will not be disappointed! My adventurous mom and I grabbed our coffee, drove up the 2-mile winding, single lane road and arrived just as the morning light was starting to illuminate the valley. A few minutes later the sun slowly rose in the middle of a spectacular pink and orange sky. It was so magical! The road is closed during the winter months, but I’ll be sure to make the trip again in the spring. The Overlook is accessed at mile post 120.3 off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
